These simple yet elegant lace socks are fun to knit and are worked toe up with upside-down
heel flap and standard gusset. The back of the heel is reinforced with a slip stitch section to hug
the back of the ankle. Beware, this “gnome hats” stitch pattern is addictive.
This pattern is written with negative ease in the width. The lace will open up during blocking and on your feet!
Skills required to knit this pattern:
★ Knit and purl
★ Left and right leaning decreases
★ Simple lace
★ Double central decrease (explained in legend)
★ Pick up stitches along selvedge edge
★ Read knitting charts
Pattern is Adult S (M, L, X-L)
Supplies needed:
● 80-150 grams sock yarn of your choice (fine fingering, fingering, heavy fingering, sport)
● Sock needles in two sizes to obtain a nice fabric for your yarn US 1 and US 1.5 (2.25 mm and 2.5 mm) or US 1.5 and US 2 (2.5 mm and 2.75 mm) to obtain gauge
● Tapestry needle
Gauge: 32 sts and 44 rows per 4” (10 cm) in stockinette stitch
